"A cold coming we had of it,
Just the worst time of the year
For a journey, and such a long journey:
The was deep and the weather sharp,
The very dead of winter."
T.S. Eliot starts by speaking the words of Lancelot Andrewes, a 17th Century divine, who spoke on the dangers the Magi faced in his Nativity Sermon in 1622. Eliot, in his middle age, needed a recluse from his hardship, confusion, and drudgery. He converted to Christianity, and confirmed his catholic faith in the Church of Engla…

Heeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!
IM BACK!
I'm sure no one missed me
But just in case, IM HERE! Was off on a cruise on the Mediterranean for the past eight days, and it was AMAZING!!
Sure there was some cheesy entertainment (also some goddamn excellent entertainment!), many old biddies carrying Werthers Originals and about fifty versions of 'Sweet Caroline', but heck it was the best holiday I've ever been on!
A delicious dancer by the name of Raphael (yes, like the Ninja Turtle), a singer who, for som…

Hi all,
We are currently designing a new (and we hope) better integrated website for writers, artists and musicians. In preparation for it being launched later this summer we would like to move all of the writers members currently on authearth.com to tailcast.com.
This has the advantage that we will have an integrated community and an integrated monthly magazine for the whole arts community we have.
We have created a new tab for writers on tailcast.com.
Apologies for any hassle and confusion…

Well I must say, *stretches*, I think I could get used to this... In fact, I quite like it here. So, time for me to get comfortable eh?
So, to introduce myself to the world of authearth...
A mere teenager and so far unrecognised for my LITERARY GENIUS (kidding!), it's only recently that I've begun to take writing more seriously. Sure I've always had the odd little story floating around my mind, sometimes even ON PAPER, but I'd never really tried to, y'know, improve my writing seriously. So, I d…

There are those who argue that the Beijing Olympics should remain unsullied by political realities. These Games, they argue, are about global unity, a celebration of our common humanity – it would be unseemly to disrupt the beauty of these events with political statements.
It's all nons…

"And there was a boy, dressed in red. How dear he was to me." The girl sang softly. The white padded walls were still, but in her eyes they were torn in shreds. A nurse in a white uniform opened the steel door as she carried a metal tray with pills. "All right Mary, time to go to sleep." She said in a cherpy voice. Mary parted her crackled lips as she whispered. "I di…

Well, I've just joined this thing, so you'll have to bear with me. As you've guessed, I'm Abby. I'm an unpublished author down in Lincolnshire. I did finish a book last summer, but due to technical problems (thanks to dad) I lost most of my work (grrr!) so now I have to write it all over again. I do have other projects on the go, so many worlds inside of my head. I also write a little bit of poetry, but nothing major. On top of all that I do some artwork. Nothing grand mind you, just some manga,…

Apparently, soon the life of the late Princess of Wales is going to be made into a Broadway Musical.
Elton John is being named as a possible music consultant, with Diana Biographer Tina Brown as writer of the show.
Personally, I have nothing against Diana. I believe that whilst alive, she was a warm, generous, kind person. Sure, she probably had faults - but who doesn't? However, she has now been dead for a very long time, and I feel that if people truly respected her memory, they would just lea…

I aint no poet.
If i was,
I certainly wouldnt know it.
My English sucks.
Instead of doing homework,
i'd go out an' feed the ducks.
Im in my teens'.
Spending most of my time
living in silly day dreams.
Give me some inspiration,
Cos' i really need
a decent imagination.
An i honestly cant find,
a single clever thought
In my tiny little mind. Continue

Nearly midnight. I need a space where I can be as pretentious as I like without people I know knowingly reading it. If you are someone who I know, and you know that you know me, please don't tell me that you know... self-censorship is my main "creative" barrier right now. I quit writing poetry about four years ago when I started letting too many people who I knew read my work. Not that the response was negative - far from it - I just couldn't stand baring my soul to people I had to sit next to a…

In a shock news item in the UK today an association of TV and newspaper companies have decided to jointly fund a judicial review of the findings of various inquests into Princess Diana's death.
Commenting on Authearth a spokesperson for the new group (provisionally named the "RNIFW" Media Fund) said:
"
We are astonished that despite there being no real evidence proving that there was not foul play an extremely costly and wasteful process looks like it will be closed. We have a duty to our sh… Continue

In pre-independent India, the Bhore Committee was one of the committees set up for the new Indian Government in making to make plans for the country's development. The health Committee was to study health problems and suggest the most appropriate health care system for the country. At that time allopathic system coexisted with homeopathy, ayurveda, unani, and siddha systems of medicines. There were many local healers in rural areas practicing traditional medicine. It was not a moneymaking busine…

The walk, the click of my heels and the thoughts that melted like old icecream into milk, took me home. We saw into each other's eyes, my shadow and I. The afternoon high was lowering itself to a simmer, still severely toasting foreheads. I drew out a small camera and decided to see the world move, spin and happen. With the feeling of owning the world, a part of it, with every image and thought that transpired in the time being the few minute walk seemed an hour. An eon long journey!
Let this si…

To be sure that your stomach doesn't start growling and grumbling eat your breakfast. However, circumstances and situationspersuade one to skip meals just because food access is not ready enough to grab. Chennai local railway stations do not give you the option of catching trains as an excuse for such impeccable crimes to your stomach and day. The Vegetarian Light Refreshment stalls, in most of the stations, provide one and everyone with good, warm, light, and healthy food and eating conditions.…

~Water~
It is our right to use, duty to conserve and crime to exploit.
In 1995, the vice-president of the World Bank, Ismail Serageldin predicted an acute water shortage for the new millennium: "If the wars of this century were fought for oil, the wars of the next century will be fought over water."
Water is the essence of life. It is perhaps the most basic resource: it is essential for our survival, crucial for relieving poverty, hunger, disease and critical for economic use. Water is…

Hi,
I just signed an urgent petition calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet and toengage in meaningful dialogue with the Dalai Lama. This is really important to me, and I am wondering if you might want to take action by signing a similar petition that will be handed to the President Hu of China.
Please take a few minutes to visit http://www.avaaz.org . Click on READ MORE?>>
After nearly 50 years of Chinese rule, the Tibetans are sending out a global cry… Continue
